Five checks before leaving the bench

A short closing routine keeps the next session easier to pick up.

Clear the working area first. Put tools back and separate the current piece from loose findings. Starting the next session with a visible surface makes it easier to notice a missing part.

Label the work. A product name, size and dated note are enough to distinguish two similar samples. Put the note with the tray so it stays with the object when the bench is cleared.

Record the last change. A quick sketch of the clasp or a sentence about the finish saves trying to remember exactly what was adjusted.

Check the piece under a second light. A join that looks clean under the task lamp may be easier to see by the window. Mark the area that needs attention instead of trying to finish it in a hurry.

Leave the next step written down. In the morning, one clear task is more useful than a tray labelled almost done.
