What we ask a metal supplier

A short set of questions about specification, batch records and what happens when an order changes.

Before ordering metal for a new piece, we want a specification we can keep with the sample. It should identify the alloy, form and dimensions being supplied. A familiar trade name is a starting point, not the complete record.

We also ask how the batch is identified and which documents will arrive with it. Keeping that reference on the order sheet makes a later question easier to answer. It is especially useful when a material from two deliveries behaves differently at the bench.

Lead times matter alongside the specification. We ask what is in stock, what needs production and how changes will be communicated. The answer helps us plan the sample work before making promises about a finished collection.

Finally, we ask whom to contact about a discrepancy. A named route for technical questions is more useful than a broad quality claim. The supplier names and sourcing stories in a real shop should follow its own records; this template does not claim an audited supply chain.
